Rationale and Introduction you may need to conduct Course and Instructor Evaluations

The State of Florida and the University of Florida require course and instructor evaluations. In the past, the number of students responding to these surveys in the College of Pharmacy has been low. Some students have taken this professional responsibility very seriously; while others have not. This low response rate leaves open the possibility that the results of the evaluations are not representative of the opinions of the majority of students in the class. Course evaluations are fundamental cornerstones and building blocks in the College's educational continuous quality improvement program. So, it is important that everyone in the class evaluate both the course and the instructor. Many important decisions are made about courses and how they are taught. These decisions are based on the results of the responding students' opinions. The silent majority, if they remain silent, do not get heard. So, everyone's opinion counts -- especially yours!
Beginning Fall Semester 2001, students in the College of Pharmacy are required to complete both course and instructor evaluations. If students do not, they will not receive credit for their courses (they will receive an "I" grade until the evaluation is submitted). It is important to distinguish between course evaluations and instructor evaluations and to evaluate both. They are separate evaluations and serve separate functions. Keep this in your mind as you complete the evaluations. This document is intended to help give instructions and helpful hints on how to complete the course and instructor evaluations.
