5-Star Resort Martino in Alajuela
2007 Dates
February 18-25, 2007
April 14-21, 2007
"Medicare Part D: In the aftermath of January 1, 2006"
You arrive at a strange city, one you have not visited. You are confused by all the activity around the airport. Suddenly you hear a friendly English voice calling your name. That's Dr. Douglas Benn, a retired University of Florida Dentist. He, or one of his people will be at the airport in San Jose when you arrive and you will be whisked away to a resort hotel where you will spend 7 lovely days and nights in the exotic setting of Alajuela, Costa Rica. On your first full day ), we will take you on a tour of the volcano, Poas, and the capital city of San Jose as well of several sights you will not want to miss. This tour assumes there will be at least 15 program registrants to fill the tour. If there are not enouogh registrants fo rthe tour, the classes will be held on the second and third days. Great way to get started!! On the second and third day we work hard, beginning the mornings immediately after a lovely breakfast on the veranda overlooking the pool. There is a morning and afternoon break, and we generally take an hour break for lunch. We adjourn about 5:00-5:30 pm on both days so we can get the full 15 hours of CE in two days. That leaves the rest of your week free to do whatever you wish to do. And, believe me, there are lots of thing you will want to do. Some like to SCUBA or snorkel, some like the mountains and swinging through the trees on cables from tree to tree and some just like to take it easy, visiting the rain forests or touring the coffee plantations. Life is different in Costa Rica. You can even learn to relax.
The luxury Hotel Martino in Alajuela will host the courses providing old world charm in both the public areas and the bedrooms. While you are accumulating state-of-the-art knowledge, your family can be enjoying the Olympic size pool, the spa, and exercise facilities, as well as tranquil walks in the beautiful gardens. You will certainly need the exercise to work off the excellent food from the restaurant, which you can enjoy outdoors on the veranda overlooking the pool. With year-round daytime temperatures in the 70s, eating outdoors is a pleasure. However, all bedrooms and educational rooms have air-conditioning.
Costa Rica is tourist friendly and safe; a true Central American success story with high literacy, good health, a long history of a stable democracy, and one of the best climates and scenic opportunities in the world.
IMPORTANT NOTE: COSTA RICA IS A POPULAR VACATION DESTINATION. THE HOTEL IS RELATIVELY SMALL AND THEREFORE FILLS UP QUICKLY. THE HOTEL WILL NOT HOLD ROOMS, SO THEREFORE YOU SHOULD BOOK YOUR RESERVATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Transportation to Costa Rica is of your own choosing and expense, but air fares are usually reasonable. For example, Miami to San Jose, Costa Rica direct flights of 2 ¾ hours cost around $400 with Martinair or American Airlines (http://www.orbitz.com).
Our package of the CE course (course attendee and partner) with 7 nights bed and breakfast for two including taxes is great value at about $1,695 - even in the "High Season". This is absolutely the BEST time of the year to visit Costa Rica.
To ensure a smooth passage throughout your stay, UFCOP has formed a working agreement with Health Conundrums LLC. Health Conundrums LLCwill provide an American representative (a Gator) who lives in Costa Rica. He will be present throughout the CE days and at a regular time on the vacation days.
The topic for the course in both February and May is "Medicare Part D and Medication Management Services - What's a Pharmacist to do?"
