
Diabetes Management and Education
Approved for 12 hours of Continuing Pharmacy Education Credits for General CE (UPN 012-000-02-078-H01).
The course is also approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for 12 hours of Consultant Recertification Credits (#20-36360).
The course provides the pharmacist with a relatively comprehensive overview of diabetes, and with the expectation that you will apply many of these principles in daily practice to improve the outcomes of patients who suffer with diabetes. This program is meant to cover several areas of diabetes in moderate depth. The pharmacist is encouraged to review any particular area of interest in greater detail. After successfully completing this course the pharmacists should be able to:
- Describe the pathophysiology and treatment of diabetes.
- Relate the criteria for diagnosis and screening for diabetes.
- Discuss standards of care.
- Recommend appropriate therapy.
- Identify complications and prevention strategies.
- Explain nutrition principles and recommendations.
- Educate patients on self-management of diabetes.
