Overview

Pharmacists who complete the Asthma Therapy Certificate Program will expand their knowledge of drug therapy and other specific treatment topics related to Asthma for patients requiring such therapy, develop communication skills with patients who require asthma drug therapy, and develop an Asthma management service in specific health-care settings that would provide clinical and financial benefits to the pharmacists' practice.

Program of Study

The Asthma Therapy Certificate Program course is particularly suited to (1) pharmacists who wish to expand their knowledge of drug therapy and other specific treatment topics related to Asthma for patients requiring such therapy, (2) Pharmacists that desire to enhance their communication skills with patients who require asthma drug therapy, and (3) Pharmacists that want to develop an Asthma Management Service in specific health-care settings that would provide clinical and financial benefits to the pharmacists' practice.

This program will also provide pharmacists with adequate training and knowledge to help them pass a certification exam about asthma and its therapy that might be offered by an agency or organization authorized to provide certification. This appears to be an important first step in pharmacists being compensated by third party payers in some states.
