Pharmacists in Florida are now authorized to administer immunizations

In 2007 the Florida Legislature ammended Florida Statute 465.003 authorizing pharmacists to administer influenza injections, making Florida the 44th state to authorize pharmacists to administer injections. The law requires that each pharmacist participate in a 20-hour course covering the knowledge and skills that a pharmacist will need to correctly and safely administer injections.

The goal of this course is to fulfill the requirements of the Florida Statutes Section 465.189, providing the education and training a pharmacist needs to extablish an immunization practice.

The University of Florida is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
