GRADUATE EDUCATION

Graduate education is offered in five research departments within the UF College of Pharmacy. Each department represents a focused area within pharmaceutical science.

MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY

Areas of active interest include drug discovery, organic synthesis of medicinal agents, natural products chemistry, prodrugs, topical drug delivery, peptide chemistry, molecular modeling, drug metabolism and molecular toxicology.

Research in this department includes physiology, neuroscience, pharmacology and pathology of drugs and drug interaction. Research goals are to understand normal physiology, pathophysiology, and drug action.

PHARMACOTHERAPY AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH

Areas of active interest focus on understanding genetic and non-genetic factors that contribute to variability in drug response. Selected areas of research include cardiology, transplant/immunology, asthma/pulmonary, psychiatry, and clinical pharmacology/drug metabolism.
