SPSS refers to a group of licensed, copyrighted software products from SPSS, Inc.. The base system for SPSS is a powerful software package for microcomputer data management and analysis.
Among its features are modules for statistical data analysis, including descriptive statistics such as plots, frequencies, charts, and lists, as well as sophisticated inferential and multivariate statistical procedures like analysis of variance (ANOVA), factor analysis, cluster analysis, and categorical data analysis. SPSS is particularly well-suited to survey research, though by no means is it limited to just this topic of exploration.
The Institute for Child Health Policy (ICHP) has agreed to provide the faculty and students of the College of Pharmacy with high-speed local area network (LAN) access to centralized SPSS software resources. This access will be available via a remote desktop connection which will allow application execution to take place on their centralized server, while all keyboard, mouse and display information are redirected to the remote user's workstation. Remote sessions are full-screen and high-color, and will appear identical to your standard desktop experience, possibly with better performance than if the application were installed locally.
