Debbie L. Wilson has educational backgrounds in Linguistics (MA 1999) and Pharmacy Health Care Administration (PhD 2004). Dr. Wilson’s Veterans Administration (VA) Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) Post Doctoral Fellowship (2005-Present) training program at the VA Rehabilitation Outcomes Research Center is focused on developing knowledge patient-provider communications. She is an Investigator with the VA Stroke Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI). Dr. Wilson is currently involved in 3 funded projects: Web-Based Informational Materials for Informal Caregivers of Veterans Post Stroke (Co-PI; VA HSR&D SDP 06-327), Intervention Development for Shared Decision Making in Stroke Prevention (Co-I; VA QUERI RRP 07-305) , and Improving Clinical Decision Making for Stroke Prevention (Co-PI; VA QUERI RRP 06-153).
Dr. Wilson 's research interests have focused on projects using qualitative and quantitative methodology in pharmacy health care administration. Her work on pharmacy technicians has drawn national attention. Three of her articles on pharmacy technicians have been republished. One of Dr. Wilson's articles "Review of Tech-Check-Tech" was editorialized in the Journal of Pharmacy Technology (vol. 19, no. 3). The article was released (November 2004) in a free collection by the journal as one of five back issues in "a collection of articles with historic significance to the technician profession", and advertised in the American Association of Pharmacy Technicians Newsletter (vol. 26, issue. 3).
