Perry A. Foote Outcomes Modeling Laboratory -

Quantitative Core

The quantitative outcomes modeling laboratory is located in HPNP room 3322. The laboratory consists of high speed dedicated computers, intra and internet connections, color printing capabilities and scanning devices. The laboratory owns and has access to public and private databases. Data analysis staff is available for assistance. Most statistical packages, modeling packages, and query languages are maintained and up-to-date in the lab. The laboratory is a resource to University of Florida based researchers.

Recent projects include:

  • Research in diabetes II outcomes
    • Identifying diabetics II patients in a medicaid population
    • Determining incidence rates for diabetes II related complications
    • Abstract cost data for diabetics related complications
    • Model cost outcomes using Montecardo simulations

The Department of Health Care Administration, the UF Center for Medicaid and Uninsured, Florida Agency for Health Care and Bristol Meyers & Squibb are working together in developing a Diabetes Outcomes model that allows for the calculation of cost savings attributable to disease management. This project sponsored by the University of Florida Shands Health Systems identified a subgroup of patients clearly benefiting from Nesiritide therapy. Clinical trials are currently underway.

  • Research in kidney failure in C/T patients
    • Constructing a retrospective cohort of patients that underwent cardiac surgery
    • Determining the odds ratios of complications of surgery for those exposed to Nesiritide versus those not
