Class of 2008 Giving Challenge
Dear Class of 2008,
Can you believe it? Graduation is just around the corner! For most of us, the idea of getting a chance to get out and practice is bittersweet – we are eager to begin our careers as pharmacist, but unsure of what lies ahead.
I know that we can take comfort in the fact that we are graduating from one of the best colleges of pharmacy in the nation. Let’s stop and reminisce about the experiences we have had in pharmacy school at the University of Florida. Remember that first day or orientation? Cultural Dinner with Doering –the 70’s icon? Homecoming Parade with Dean Riffee? The Midyear trip to Vegas? Pharmacy advocacy in Tallahassee? Our college has provided us with many great opportunities! It would be great for the class of 2008 to start a tradition of giving back to the college that has given us so much. I challenge each of you to participate in the first annual Class of 2008 Giving Challenge and join me in pledging a minimum of $500 to be given over the next 5 years. By each of us making just a $100 contribution to the college each year for the next 5 years, our class total gift will reach upwards of $150,000!
It is my hope that many of us can pledge beyond the $500. Perhaps our pledges could honor our graduation year. A pledge of $1004 would mean a contribution of $200.80 per year for five years. Or make a pledge of $2008 with an annual commitment of $401.60 per year. Participation is the key to the success of our giving challenge, so please participate at any level you feel comfortable. Let’s set a precedent of giving for future classes to aspire to reach. Our gifts will support the Academy for Excellence, which provides the resources that allow the college to initiate new processes and programs while strengthening -educational and outreach efforts.
